Hi, I’m Dr. Cortney Linville and I am very excited to be joining the team at Wiscasset Family Medicine. I am originally from New York State, but have felt at home here in Maine since coming from medical school in 1998. After medical school at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medical School, I trained in Lewiston at CMMC and I have worked in practices in Rockland and Brunswick and I am very glad to have the opportunity to get involved in this beautiful community.
I take Family Medicine very seriously. I am interested in working with new and existing patients to find health in your everyday life. As an osteopathic physician, I was trained that when one is sick, people have an innate, known path to wellness and sometimes we just have to do a little research together to find it. Starting that journey usually involves some detective work. Evaluation with questions, examination and tests help us find answers. Eventually, healing may include a combination of many different options for treatment, including lifestyle changes and medications.
If you are already well, come in and we can talk about evidence based preventive care and how often you may need routine appointments. A lot has changed in preventive recommendations in the last few years. You may not need to be seen as often as you thought or you may need more routine care than you are getting.
I have a degree in osteopathic medicine. If you do not know what a “D.O.” is, call or come in for some information about osteopathic medicine. But the brief answer is that I went to a medical school with a slightly different philosophy than some schools. I was taught to consider a patient from many different angles. Additionally, I have been trained to use Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment to help diagnose and treat people. This is something I am looking forward to offering in this community. If you think you might benefit from “OMT”, please call for an appointment. We would start with an office visit and initial evaluation to see if you might benefit. If you’ve had OMT in the past please call to set up an “OMT appointment”.
I look forward to getting to know this community and the people connected to this practice. The vibe here is compassionate, interested and committed and I think I will fit right in!
